The Top 30 TV Murder Mysteries For May & June

I’ve got lots of exciting news for you when it comes to murder mysteries in entertainment! If you’re looking for a new television series, there are plenty of unique and fun shows up right now (Paradise, The Residence) as well as some much-loved mainstays (the fourteenth season of Death In Paradise is up now!). Acorn TV is kicking off its Murder Mystery May with the third season of The Chelsea Detective; you can also catch the eleventh season of The Brokenwood Mysteries, with new episodes airing every Monday! Meanwhile, Marlow Murder Club has been renewed for a second season and will be released in the States on PBS later this year. Also in the works is the third and final Anthony Horowitz adaptation of his Susan Ryeland novels, Marble Hall Murders, also coming soon for PBS.

In Netflix news, the much-anticipated second season of Wednesday premieres Wednesday, August 6th, with the first half of season two available immediately; the second half streams a month later on Wednesday, September 3rd. Check out the brand new Season Two trailer below:

This is OMITI’s compilation of the Top 30 mystery series currently streaming for May and June on all major platforms. Let me know in the comments if I missed one you recommend!

30. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries - Acorn TV

(3 Seasons, 34 episodes total, 57 minutes each) Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries is arguably the best detective series to come out of Australia, and is now considered by many to be a cult classic in the Mystery genre. Phryne Fisher, a glamorous private detective in 1920s Melbourne, and her adventures are based on author Kerry Greenwood's historical mystery novels, with the television series credited to Deb Cox, who also acted as head writer. The show was so popular that Acorn TV later brought Miss Fisher back in a 2020 feature film, Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears. Watch it after you’ve binged the series.

29. Agatha Raisin - Acorn TV

(4 seasons, 90 minutes each, 20 episodes total) This cozy comedy mystery starring the well-coiffed, fashionable and fabulous Ashley Jensen as Agatha Raisin is the most fun you can have with murder mysteries set in the Cotswolds — other than Midsomer Murders, that is. This show is based on the books by M.C. Beaton. If you’ve seen all episodes of Agatha Raisin and crave more Ashley Jensen, try Shetland.

28. Bosch - Prime Video

(Seven seasons, 68 episodes total, 43 minutes each, TV-MA) Few modern mystery authors accurately capture what life is like in Los Angeles — and many have tried! — but Michael Connelly has and does with his Harry Bosch mystery series. Fortunately for fans, the television adaptation of these mysteries lives up to the novels, which is to the credit of the writers, producers and a cast lead by Titus Welliver. You can find Bosch and two seasons of the spin-off show, Bosch: Legacy, on Prime Video.

27. Cross - Prime Video

(One season, 60 minutes each, 8 episodes total) The new Alex Cross series, based on James Patterson’s bestselling novels, reinterprets the character previously played by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry. Cross is the work of Ben Watkins (Burn Notice, Hand of God, Truth Be Told) with Aldis Hodge as the lead (Hidden Figures, The Invisible Man). The show got the greenlight for its second season before it even aired, which spells early success in Hollywood. Patterson’s latest Alex Cross novel, The House of Cross, is in bookstores now.

26. Paradise - Hulu

(One season, 50 minutes each, 6 episodes total) This series was straight out of the gate one of the best murder mystery television pilots I’ve seen in a long, long time! A divisive election in American politics left its mark on pitches for the 2025 television season. Paradise, like The Residence, also has a political setting, but is better categorized as a conspiratorial thriller than a comedy. This new Hulu mystery series features Emmy winners Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nicholson with Emmy nominee James Marsden. Brown plays Xavier Collins, the head of security for President Cal Bradford (Marsden). When Xavier finds the President dead one morning and is discovered by investigators to be the last person to have seen him alive, he’s under suspicion and forced to hunt the real killer. A second season is coming soon!
