I read a quote somewhere that was something along the lines of, “Men are afraid women are going to say something mean about them. Women are afraid that a man is going to kill them.” Somehow this social commentary seems to fit the last girl scenario.
My favorite (sort of) version of this is the movie Cabin In The Woods. Another more funny take on the whole thing.
The movie Damsel doesn't exactly fit this category, or maybe it doesn't fit it at all, but reading this really made me think of Damsel. I enjoyed it a lot. Through many generations hundreds of young princesses have been sacrificed to a vengeful dragon. Finally our heroine breaks the cycle. This Damsel was in serious trouble, distress even, but no knight saved her. She did make use of a knight's empty suit of armor though.
SPOILERS: I'd have loved it even more if she'd found other survivors hidden in the dragon's cavernous lair and they used the knowledge they'd gained through their years in hiding to finally all escape together. Then we could have many sequels as the princesses return to their homes and extract their own vengeance on those who sold them out
Probably random but very relevant? We have six chickens named after The Final Girls. Called “The Final Chicks” get it? Well, we actually had 8 but we had to leave two behind in the move when one of them got sick. Reading your post left me compelled to share that lol.
Connick is the son of the former District Attorney of New Orleans, so he learned creepy...
