This is a superbly written guide for those ready to dive into autumn’s mysteries. I loved how you framed your anticipation with “the other obvious priority at the top of my to-do list.” Your deep knowledge and passion for the genre make this a perfect selection for anyone craving a good whodunit.
In the hold queue for that Osman. His writing is so funny and clever. My sister is a huge Penny fan, so I’ll listen to that one for connection with her. Curious to hear the new narrator.
In 2025, you might also like an upcoming Marie Benedict called Queens of Crime. I have an ARC pending review, but it’s a true-crime locked/room mystery inside a biographical novel about 5 of the Golden-Age mystery writers but especially Dorothy Sayers. Really good, and I think it will introduce the lesser-known Queens of Crime to new readers because of Benedict’s sizable audience.
I forgot to put Michael Connelly on my list. I’m behind on my Ballard and Bosch. Also looking forward to the new season of Lincoln Lawyer and the final season of Bosch.

Thanks, Jon!
Adding all of these to my TBR list right now! Always thankful for your recommendations ❤️
Yay! I think the new Paula Hawkins and The Hitchcock Hotel in particular are gonna be up your alley.
Agreed!
And Louise Penny! Can’t believe I was about to leave off the most obvious one!
I have to check this one out!

Thanks for the head’s up on these fascinating sounding reads, Reda. I love a good Harry Bosch mystery.
Thanks for this amazing list, Reda! If I have to make a choice, I'll start with Drop Dead Sisters. It's already on my wishlist!
I haven’t read it yet, but it’s on mine, too!
Thanks for all these great recommendations! I’m presently listening to The Heron’s Cry by Ann Cleeves,, in her new Matthew Venn series.
